There are great tours you can take as a family in Sicily with some of the best being around Mt. Etna. The incredible active volcano (yes I did say active!) is surrounded by a pristine natural reserve where the family can explore the remains of lava flows and see the incredible views. Near the volcano there is an adventure park called Etnavventura with rope courses and outdoor activities. Here the kids can tire themselves out and the parents can enjoy a nice picnic in the beautiful surroundings.

Taormina is another great place to take a day trip. It is one of the most visited destinations in Sicily and for good reason. The town atop the hill has amazing views of the sea and the volcano, complete with an incredible ancient amphitheater. The kids will love learning about the history of the town and will especially enjoy the cable car ride that takes you from the seaside village below, up to Taormina!

For your little explorers Syracuse is a must-see. Be sure to sign them up for the Eureka! archaeological workshop where they can learn about the rich history of the once great city state and even take part in some archaeological discovery games. The salt pans between Trapani and Marsala are a natural wonder for everyone to enjoy. It is a fascinating array of salt flats and beautiful windmills, a natural landscape that is so diverse from anywhere else on the island. A great little trip is to the island of Mothya to see remains of a Phoenician town, a great place to explore and relax for the entire family. Sicily is truly a perfect destination for a family looking to relax and unwind.
