It is no secret that my husband and I have been a bit silly in the past. We have borrowed quite a bit of money and have had to literally pay for our silliness.

Luckily we are coming to a point where things are starting to look up. My car is now all mine! That really makes me smile! Michael’s car is also all his but he drives a shed. 🙂 Don’t feel too sorry for him! He loves his shed, he thinks he is driving a classic car! He is also getting a brand new company car in a couple of months.

We still have a few debts hanging over our heads and we think that the best way forward would be to consolidate our existing debt into one monthly payment. This would hopefully cut down our monthly outgoings.

I have found a site which provides personal loans in the U.K. Lending Works review your application within a day and they offer better rates than banks. They also have a loan calculator on their site. You can input how much you would like to borrow over how long and it will work out what the monthly payments will be. I found this very useful as you need to be certain that you can afford the monthly payments before applying for credit!

Getting a quote from Lending Works doesn’t affect your credit score. This has always worried me as I remember an old teacher of mine telling us how he used to apply for credit regularly to show his class the process. He didn’t realise that each time he applied his credit rating was affected. Since he told us that story I have worried about my credit score every time I have filled in an application.

I am keen to get our finances in order before our new addition arrives. I think it is all part of the nesting process. Clean the house – check! Prepare meals for the freezer – check! Organise our money problems – check!
