Bob has been going to ballet classes on a Saturday morning since January. She really enjoys going and spends most days dancing around the house showing us what she has learnt.

She now runs into her class without me but when she first started I went into the class with her. I took this photograph as she was waiting to go into her first lesson.

Ballerina-Bob

Luckily Bob is quite confident and I got to watch her from the side of the studio. Many other parents weren’t so lucky and they had to join in with their children.

I loved watching Bob in her lessons. Her teacher was brilliant and she got them to work towards ballet positions and steps without them knowing it. They thought they were playing fun games and acting out nursery rhymes.

Here is a little video after Bob had been to her first lesson. She couldn’t wait to show her daddy what she had learnt!

I can already see an improvement. She may not be at the pirouette stage yet but she now plies with her toes apart! 🙂

Bob also loves her uniform. She wears a leotard, tights, a tutu and some ballet shoes and as soon as she puts them on she can’t help but dance around the changing room. There are tap classes at the same time as her ballet classes and I regularly see Bob admiring their bright pink and purple leotards.

She has already asked if she can go to tap classes too. I have told her she can after she has been going to ballet classes for a while. Even though you can buy dance uniforms at a reasonable price I want to be sure that Bob is going to keep going to her classes before I buy another uniform.

When I was 4 I started ballet lessons. My mum and dad bought me the whole uniform. I went to one lesson and I didn’t like it so I didn’t want to go again. I went back to dancing when I was older and I loved it but when I was 4 I didn’t enjoy it. I think that I thought I would be a fully fledged ballerina after one lesson and instead I was running around to ‘How Much Is That Doggy In The Window’. I am sure that my teacher was using the same tricks and techniques then as Bob’s teacher does now but I didn’t understand that when I was 4.
