I have heard of Graze Box and Glossy Box before now but they are not something that I have every tried. When I was ask if I would like to review a monthly box containing children’s clothing I was intrigued.
Box Upon A Time send you a selection of designer clothes each month, tailored to your personal taste, with up to 60% off. A subscription costs £49 a month and it is for children aged 0-3.
To start I filled in my personal profile to give Box Upon A Time an idea of my tastes. One of their stylists then hand picked some clothes for me.
I was a bit unsure of how they could know the types of clothing that I like and, if I was subscribing to Box Upon A Time I would want to love all of the clothes that I received.
I was a bit disappointed with the first box I received. It contained 3 items of clothing. 2 were very similar cardigans and the other was a top. I wasn’t keen on any of them. I saw this as an opportunity to review Box Upon A Time’s customer service.
I contacted them and asked if they had an exchange policy as if I had paid £49 for my box I would have been disappointed. Their e mail correspondence was friendly and they informed me that they offer an option for you to exchange your whole box which I think is a brilliant idea! It also gives you some piece of mind as if you do not like your clothing selection you have the option to exchange them.
I returned my box and I was sent another selection which I liked. One of the cardigans was the same but that was fine and they also sent a lovely t shirt and a beautiful dress.
The cardigan was a yellow hoodie from Edamame Kids. It is very soft and environmentally friendly.
The t shirt was by Emma Levine and it had a lovely palm tree design on the front. It’s perfect for summertime and holidays!
The dress was my favourite item! Again it was by Emma Levine and it is a cool summer dress with a vintage feel to it. Unfortunately it was a little short for Bob as I was sent a size too small but we still love it!
If I had bought these items at full price it would have cost me £83 so £49 provides a big saving!
Box Upon A Time is a lovely concept. Of course there are cheaper ways to buy clothes but if you want designer clothing at very reduced prices this could be the option for you.
Disclaimer: I was sent the box of clothing for the purpose of this review but all opinions and photographs are my own.
I think this is perhaps one of those ideas that seems alright on paper but in practice…I’m not a mum myself but I don’t get the whole designer baby stuff (although this could just be because I don’t do the whole designer label thing myself). Kids grow so fast why waste lots of money on expensive clothes for them?

Im so glad its not just me that was disappointed with their box. None of the clothes actually matched, I had a size 6-12 months in with 3-6 and i was just so disappointed with the overall time it took to get the box to me (3 Months).

Sorry to hear that! x
I tried the box upon a time service for three months and suffered issues with clothes not matching my profile or being too small. I’ve loved one item in each box, but the two other items were either completely the wrong size, colour or style for my tastes. While I found communication from the company to be friendly and helpful, getting replacements takes an age. I love the concept of the box and the quality of the clothes are lovely, but there are definitely some issues in how transactions are executed (I’m still waiting for my first box to be replaced). I think I’m giving up and cancelling my membership at this point.
Sorry you have had some issues! They are lovely quality garments but I also found some teething issues with the contents.
I loved the concept but have been so disappointed. The first box I recieved I liked the style of 4 of the 5 items yet the 2 knitwear pieces were 100% acrylic. Not the quality natural fabrics I’d been lead to believe they provided, or indeed that the particular brand promised in the enclosed info about each garment. They were friendly and swift to provide me with a return label. I returned this box over a month ago and still no contact from them at all. My second box was even worse, poor style, polyester trousers and more acrylic knitware. I contacted them again to request my return label – I have sent 3 emails and 1 voicemail over the last 3 weeks and still no response. My subscription is now cancelled but I’ve spent £100 with them and have nothing to show for it. Nice idea but the reality is a polar opposite. Regrettably I strongly advise you stay away.
Sorry you have had bad service! Will you be able to get your money back?
Thank you Charlotte. I would hope so but with no one from customer service responding to my emails and their contact number going direct to voicemail for so long I’ve somewhat lost hope. Hate to be the one putting the thumbs down. Especially as BUAT was recommended by a friend who’d had lovely items through.
