Granddad loudly snoring in the armchair, the kids playing busily with their new gifts, dad shovelling snow out on the driveway and mum putting the finishing touches to Christmas dinner. This fairytale Christmas scene, unfortunately, is often somewhat far removed from reality, however, and Christmas can be a rather boring time at times, thanks to the sheer amount of free time enjoyed over the season. There’s plenty of things to do over Christmas though, and to help you have a wonderful time we thought it best to compile a list of the best boredom-busting things you can occupy yourself with this Christmas!

Christmas Markets

Skipton-Christmas-Market

If you really want to boost your levels of Yuletide cheer, a visit to a Christmas market is a must-do. Delicious hot foods, arts and crafts, pretty lights and alpine huts are all wonderful aspects of the UK’s Christmas markets, and some larger ones can even make for quite the day out. Manchester is currently hosting a variety of different markets, with German, French and world-themed ones all located in the city, and In Leeds, the annual Christkindelmarkt market, located in Millennium Square, is hosting a Bavarian band, a host of German delicacies and a beer hall!

Relax Online

If you’re completely pooped from buying presents, going on trips out or getting your home decorated in time for the big day, there’s no better, more calming thing to do than to sit back and enjoy some of the internet’s finest delights! You could be in for a chance to win a little extra Christmas spending money!

Attractions

Santa-Express

We’ve all heard of the horror stories associated with terribly put together Christmas attractions, however these lacklustre offerings need not put you off going to Christmas events in general; there’s still really excellent, fun-filled events across the UK this winter. In Brighton, ‘Burning the Clocks’, where a lantern procession travels through the city to the beach where the lamps are subsequently burnt along with a huge bonfire and fireworks, is a wonder to behold, especially given it takes place on the shortest day of the year! For those in Wales and Gloucestershire, a trip to Bounce Below should definitely be undertaken; the attraction is the largest underground trampoline in the world and at Christmas the grotto is lit up fantastically whilst the kids can also visit Santa in his grotto.
