Before I had a newborn baby boy I would have thought that changing their nappy would be easier than changing a newborn baby girl’s. I was wrong!

how to change a newborn baby boy's nappy

I have changed older baby boy’s nappies before and I am already aware to watch out for sprinkles as the cold air hits. I was prepared for this but it has yet to happen. Maybe this is something they learn with experience.

I wasn’t aware however of how many nooks, crannies and wrinkly bits there were. It is so awkward to wipe away all the poo that he is constantly producing! Boys poo so much more than girls! That doesn’t surprise me as ladies don’t even pass wind! 😉 One day we used 24 nappies! That’s a whole packet!

I was also unaware of the many directions in which a boy could wee. Up, down, left, right and even around corners! It took me a while to learn that the position of a boys willy is of upmost importance when you are putting on a clean nappy. The first couple of nappy changes were very interesting! I would realise that his hair was wet. I assumed that he had done a massive wee which his nappy could not contain. I would go to change his nappy and find that it was dry. I was baffled!

After a couple of floods Michael casually asked, ‘Do you know you have to point his willy down?’

I am now somewhat of a pro and we rarely have escaping wee wee. I will have to learn all over again though when the squirting starts.

Cute pic! Looking very cheeky, had he just soaked you? Lol after having three boys you would think that I would be a pro at changing nappies. No. You have to be very quick and point it down otherwise you’ll get a shower x

I am lucky that he doesn’t soak me. I hope I’m not speaking too soon! It was my fault it was going everywhere as I didn’t know the golden rule! Point it down! X

hehehe! This made me chuckle….I wouldn’t have a clue when it comes to boys. I have only ever changed girls nappies x

Before you take the nappy off, run a wipe across his tummy just under the top of the nappy. It gives them the same shock of cold that the air does but the wee is contained in the nappy not spraying everywhere as you dive for the clean nappy 🙂

That is a fabulous tip! Thank you! I will remember that as I am sure the sprinkling will start soon. 🙂 x

No problem! Wish I’d known earlier, my boy was a sprinkler from birth, we tried all sorts! It eventually stopped for a while and then started again when winter hit and I learned this tip, was a life saver! Xx

My first child was a boy and my second a girl. What a difference when it comes to changing nappies. I didn’t know what to do when changing my girls nappy. Lol

He he, great post. Having one of each I found it really weird at first going from only changing boy nappies to dealing with girls bits! X
