I have always known that I wasn’t very healthy.
I try to eat plenty of fruit and veg, but some days the closest I get is a Haribo strawberry. Being unsettled and ‘between homes’ has made healthy eating difficult, but I make sure I force-feed my family a veg-filled stir fry once a week to try and make up for our naughtiness. It gets to a point where I crave vegetables and then I realise we have had too many takeaways!
I also don’t do much exercise. I take Sally for walks and I want to start a yoga class when we are settled, but when I try to go to the gym I tend to sit on a bike and chat to my friend. I did join a gym when Bob was younger and I had the intention of going to weekly exercise classes, but she didn’t settle in the crèche. I felt bad upsetting her for a hobby. If she had to go to nursery as I was working it would have been different, but I felt bad putting her somewhere that she was not happy so that I could go to a Zumba class.
I also bought a yoga DVD and tried to do this on a regular basis. The first time I tried Bob ran a wind up caterpillar over my head and the second she tried to put a Christmas cracker hat up my bum.
I know that I don’t get enough sleep, but in my defence I have a little person that doesn’t like to sleep all night. She prefers to wake up and come and ask me to build her a den. I am also partial to the odd fruity cider and find it hard to say no to cocktails.
It came as no surprise to find out that I wasn’t as healthy as Mr & Mrs Average. Fortunately, I am not alone. The Daily Mail made me feel better by pointing out that many people are the same. Fortunately there is help available. Many diets allow you to drink too. This article for drinkers on the Keto diet is very helpful.
When we are settled in our new house and not having to commute all over the place things are going to change! I have already been cooking up a storm in our lovely new kitchen and I am looking forward to being able to do this every day! There is also a yoga class at the village hall, which I am hoping to attend.
I don’t think I will ever be a gym bunny, but little changes will hopefully make a difference. I am hoping to take the test again in a few months and beat Mr & Mrs Average. I hope they are ready for my challenge!

I’m slightly under as well – however not surprisingly, I think one of the questions was vague and so I am claiming I am just fine (do you think I suffer from denial?!)
