I may not be the most athletic of people but I do enjoy light exercise. I love taking Sally on a walk and I enjoy walking around the shops too. 🙂 I used to go to a local yoga class but when I found out that I was pregnant I stopped going. I tried to find a pregnancy yoga in my area but they were all quite far away.

Fortunately, having a 4 year old keeps me on my toes and, although I may not go to the gym, I am constantly on the move.

Unfortunately over the last couple of months the more I move the more pain I am in. When I wake up in the morning I feel alright but as the day goes on I get a horrible pain in my lower back and I am also struggling with sciatica. The busier I have been the more pain I have and if I have overdone it I can hardly move.

When I was asked if I would like to try out the Deep Freeze Pain Relief Cold Patch I was interested to see if it would ease my discomfort. You are very limited when it comes to medication in pregnancy and this seemed like a great alternative.

When the patches arrived I was worried I wouldn’t be able to use them. On the back of the box it says that if you are pregnant or have diabetes you should consult your doctor before using the patch. I was sure it would be fine to use in pregnancy but I also have gestational diabetes so I thought I had better check.

I contacted Deep Freeze and they were brilliant! They told me that there were no reported problems when using the patch in pregnancy or if you had diabetes but, as I had both, they thought it would be best if I consulted my doctor. I asked my doctor and he said that I would be fine to use the patch. If you are in the same boat as me it would be a good idea to check with your GP as every case may be different.

Inside the box there is a resealable pouch containing 4 patches. Each pouch has a soft side and a sticky side with a plastic backing attached. You peel off the backing before applying to your skin.

When I first applied the patch it felt freezing cold but after a couple of seconds it was comfortable. After a few minutes I could feel the benefit. The cooling patch eased the pain in my lower back and I felt much more comfortable. I had secretly hoped that these patches would provide a miracle cure and I would be taking Sally on long evening walks again. Unfortunately this didn’t happen but they did provide relief from the horrible ache in my lower back and they have made my evening sitting much more enjoyable!

My husband is a terrible hypochondriac and he always has to have what everyone else has. When I was pregnant with Bob I suffered with keytones and had to test my urine. We also had a blood pressure monitor in the house and we had bought a thermometer for when the baby was born. One evening Michael went for a bath and when he came downstairs he said, ‘My blood pressure is normal, my urine is clear but my temperature is a little low.’ I couldn’t believe he had tested everything! He then turned to Dr. Google to see what might be wrong with him. He was coming up with various diagnosis until I pointed out that it was quite cold and maybe that was the problem.

When Michael saw the Deep Freeze patches he was very curious and started asking how many patches there were. I knew what he was thinking. I let him try one for a quiet life. I am not sure he would make a great reviewer. The comments he makes are on a level with Bob’s and she is 4! Whilst he was wearing his patch he said, ‘I like the fact that it’s stretchy and I like the fact that it sticks to you but it’s not too sticky. It doesn’t feel like a plaster it feels skin.’ After I have finished laughing I asked him to clarify and he explained that you could hardly tell you were wearing it. That’s better Michael. 🙂

We got these to review too and I’ve finally done my post. They are great aren’t they? They seem to work almost straight away and help me relax a bit more in the evenings!
