Drip Cake Course With The Odiham Cake Company

Since the drip cake craze started, I have been looking at photos of them in awe. I have wanted to learn how to make one for a while.  A few months ago our friend won a drip cake course at a charity auction. She gave the course to me as a gift and I was over the moon!  The course was with the Odiham Cake Company. Cake designer Gareth Jones has been delighting people with bespoke cakes since the business [click here to read on]

Snowman Splat Biscuits

Last Christmas our friends came to visit. We had a wonderful fun filled day! The children enjoyed making Snowman Splat Biscuits. I got the idea for these from Pinterest and I couldn’t wait to try making our own! We baked some biscuits and then decorated them with marshmallow fluff, marshmallows, writing icing and sprinkles. I was going to use icing for the melted snow part of the biscuit. Then, whilst I was shopping, I found a jar of marshmallow fluff [click here to read on]

Bob & The Great British Bake Off

I love Great British Bake Off and I am really enjoying this year series! After the first episode I wanted to make Jaffa Cakes and a lime drizzle cake. I have been thinking of some exciting Jaffa Cake combinations and I can’t wait to try them out! Watch this space! Bob enjoys it too. She particularly loved watching the contestants make their gingerbread creations in this week’s show stopper. She decided she would like to make one of her own. [click here to read on]

How To Decorate A Chocolate Cake

1) Allow the cake to cool and watch your mummy make some frosting. 2) Try to help mummy to cover the cake in frosting but be unable to resist eating the frosting as it is too delicious. Decide if you are not allowed to eat all of it you had better leave the room. Go and watch Mia & Me until the cake is covered. 3) When all the frosting is added it will be safe to return to the [click here to read on]

Bakewell Tart Recipe

Here is my 2nd favourite recipe from Mrs. Marson. To see my favourite click here. Mrs. Marson’s Bakewell Tart I love Bakewell Tart but I have never made one so I was excited to try this recipe. It was very straight forward and the result was delicious! The last time I made one of Mrs. Marson’s recipes I used her all in one pastry method. I decided to be brave and make the pastry using a traditional method. I increased [click here to read on]

Marshmallow Pops Recipe

I have tried making cake pops on a couple of occasions but they never turned out how I had hoped. If I mix my cake with buttercream I am not a fan of the texture and if I use a cake mold my chocolate cake is so moist that the cake pop sticks go straight through them, whilst I am waiting for the coating to set. I had seen marshmallow pops online and thought that these might be more up [click here to read on]

Disney Princess Party - Making A Princess Castle Cake

I enjoy making cakes but I do not trust my talents. I am my own worst critic and I like to do as much of the detail in advance as possible. I have thought about doing shaped cakes but I would worry about leaving so much detail until the last minute. I prefer to have everything done and then make a simple iced cake for the decorations to go on just before the event. Bob wanted a princess castle cake [click here to read on]
