We have been in our house for just over a year. We love living here and we are enjoying putting our own stamp on things. Our house is nicely decorated throughout but when we moved in it was very neutral.

Unfortunately, as the property is rented, there is only so much we can do. I have used wall stickers and fun accessories in the children’s rooms and I am really pleased with how they have turned out. We have decorated our living areas with soft furnishings and again we are happy with the results.

The places that we haven’t sorted out yet are the bathrooms and the kitchen. I was struggling to know what to do in these rooms. Again, they are decorated nicely but they are quite plain.

When Ocean Finance asked if we would like to take part in their budget bathroom campaign I thought this would be a good way to see how I could make over a bathroom, without changing the way it was decorated. We were sent £100 to see if we could transform our bathroom within a budget.

I decided to make over our family bathroom. This was very plain and not fun. As the children use this bathroom the most I decided to see how fun I could make it.

The first thing that had to go was the shower curtain. It was plain white and it was one of the first things that you saw when you walked in the room. I shopped around and I found a fabulous duck shower curtain in Argos. It was very colourful and I thought it would make a big difference in our boring bathroom.

When I realised that they had a matching duck toilet seat I was very excited. I questioned whether I was going a step too far but then I decided that it was impossible to have too much fun. 🙂

I also found some floating duck accessories. I have seen these before and I have thought how cool they were. I now had the perfect excuse to buy them.

Our towels are mostly beige and brown. This matched the bathroom at our last house. They served a purpose but again they were very boring. I chose my favourite colour from the ducks and bought some towels to match.

I added some duck tile stickers and some colourful rubber ducks.

Our decoration was complete but to make our bathroom even more fun I bought some colourful letters and numbers.

Bob had great fun spelling with these! I loved her spelling of Octopus!

I also bought some munchkin bath dots. Bow has outgrown his bath seat. He started trying to climb out of it and it was no longer safe. The bath dots were fun and they would stop him sliding around as he explores.

We all loved our new bathroom!

Bob was very excited to use our new duck toilet. She wanted everyone to quack after we had used it but fortunately that hasn’t caught on!
