When we are talking about our family if I say there will soon be 4 of us Bob corrects me. ‘5,’ she says. ‘Me, you, daddy, baby & Sally.’
She is right! Sally is definitely one of the family! I don’t know where we’d be without her!
Bob is always playing with Sally and saying she is her best friend. I sometimes worry that Sally must be getting fed up so I separate them but she just goes back for more.
I have never know a more bomb proof dog! Bob can do anything to her and she just goes along with it.
She is regularly wearing fancy clothes and the other day she was sporting singing Elsa’s shoes.
Like I said, I often think poor Sally but when I give her the opportunity to escape she doesn’t take it.
I know you can never trust a dog 100% with children but I would say I could trust Sally 99.9%. I used to say I would never leave a child alone with a dog but Sally follows Bob everywhere. When Bob has gone to bed I wonder where Sally is and she is usually curled up at the bottom of her bed. They are inseparable!
Sally is the first dog that Bob has grown up with.
We had dogs when she was born but they were older and didn’t want to play. Bob still talks about Holly and I have explained that she isn’t here anymore as she was too poorly and she accepts that.
I am terrified of anything happening to Sally though as Bob has looked after her from being a puppy and they really are best friends!
I know how heartbroken I have been in the past when our pets have been ill and I would hate Bob to have to go through that! One of our dachshunds had to have an operation which cost us £3,000. Luckily we had dog insurance otherwise we wouldn’t have been able to afford it. I have no idea what we would have done as I would have wanted to operate no matter what but we wouldn’t have had the money.
Luckily Sally seems quite robust and as she isn’t a pedigree she is less prone to health problems. It is still a worry though and insurance provides peace of mind.
Sally is still only young and I am sure she will be around for many fun filled years to come. Hopefully she’ll be with us forever!
oh what a cute post. The bond between the two of them is absolutely adorable, and so very special. I remember my old dog at my parents house, and even though I was older, I used to just curl up with her in her dog bed and cry if anyone had been nasty to me at school etc. I really want to get a dog for my two girls (and for hubbie, who’s never had a pet), but I’m just so scared of ‘the end’ as I remember how I cried for weeks in the past. But your post may just have swayed me in the right direction. Thank you. Steph xxx
The time we have with them far outweighs the sadness. It is heartbreaking but so worth it! Your childhood dog sounds wonderful! xxx
