I have heard of higgidy pies before but I haven’t tried them. When we were asked if we would like to sample some of their products and see how suitable they are for picnics I looked forward to trying them.

The supermarkets in my local town didn’t stock them but after looking on their website I found a stockist nearby.

Bob and I went to buy a selection of their pies and quiches and we planned to go on a picnic with our friends in two days time.

Luckily our picnic wasn’t planned for any further ahead, otherwise there wouldn’t have been any higgidy products left in our fridge. My husband found them and realised how delicious they were and one by one they start to disappear.

We didn’t mind as he was working until late and often had to warm up his dinner when he got home. I couldn’t begrudge him a delicious pie rather than reheated stir fry. Michael can vouch for the fact that higgidy pies are nice when they have been heated. I also tried some quiche, that was left over after our picnic, warm with jacket potato and salad and it was delicious.

When the day of our picnic arrived the weather didn’t look very promising. We packed our higgidy hamper in hope but it soon became apparent that we wouldn’t be enjoying our picnic outdoors.

We decided to have our picnic at our friends house instead.

Lunchtime

It turned into a little tea party, we had a lovely time!

The pies and quiches were delicious cold too.

Yummy

After our lunch we were treated to a show. It was like being on our holidays.

Thanks higgidy! You have provided us with delicious meals, hot and cold over the last week and you will definitely feature in our meals in the future.

Disclaimer: We were sent the picnic bag and vouchers to purchase the higgidy products for the purpose of this post. All opinions and photographs are our own.
