As you all probably know Bob isn’t the sleepiest of children. (See Let Sleeping Babies Lie, What I Would Really Like For Mother’s Day or one of a thousand tweets.) I have long since resigned myself to the fact that she just doesn’t need as much sleep as everyone else.

Although she is still waking in the night we have had a breakthrough! She now goes to bed at a reasonable hour! This may not sound like a great achievement for a 2 year old but for Bob it really is! She is in bed asleep by 7.30pm and she doesn’t stir until 11pm.

This has meant that my husband and I can watch something other than Peppa Pig! We have been spending lovely cosy evenings catching up on series’ that were filling our Sky plus box. We have even managed to watch a few films in the last few months! Before this I had not managed to watch a film in one sitting since before Bob was born!

On our anniversary in June my husband and I were supposed to be going out for a meal. I wasn’t very well but we decided to take Bob to her Grandparents anyway so that we could chill out and watch a film. We stupidly chose the Hobbit which is so long we didn’t make it to the end. We said then how it was crazy that we had to get a babysitter to be able to do something that most parents could do every night if they wished.

Now we are like most parents and we are loving our cosy nights in! We have recently got a log burner which makes the nights in even cosier. I am looking forward to the snow coming just so we can come back inside and sit in front of the fire.

I am getting quite an expert at cosy nights in. Here’s what I think makes a good one.

* A Good Film – my favourite one that we have watched recently is The Host.
* Tasty treats – I would suggest pick and mix, malteasers, minstrels, mint matchmakers or all of the above. 🙂
* A pair of Cosy Pyjamas, even better if you are allowed a new pair.
* A snuggly blanket or an open fire if you are very lucky. Thanks Michael!
* Someone to snuggle. (If you’d rather be on your own a teddy bear or a puppy would work too.)
* A tea pot full of tea.

Am I getting old?
