I didn’t think that I would want to have a 4D scan. I had seen images from my friends scans and, to be honest, some of them were quite scary.

When the constant sickness started I panicked that Bob wasn’t getting the nutrition she needed. Although my midwife assured me that she would be fine and that it would be me who suffered, I couldn’t help panicking. I worried that my dodgy diet (See Pregnancy Problems) had caused her to stop growing. It was then that I decided to have a 4D scan, as it was a way of checking that everything was o.k.

The scan showed that I had been worrying unnecessarily and it confirmed that we were having a girl. Getting an image to mark the occasion was not as straight forward. Bob was fast asleep and she would not take her hands away from her face. (She also slept with her hands on her face when she was born.) 🙂 They sent me to the supermarket to get some Lucozade and then we tried again. The Lucozade did the trick and Bob was wide-awake and ready for her photo shoot.

Although there were some scary images (when their eyes are open they look like skeletons) we did get some lovely ones and I was glad that we decide to have one. This is my favourite picture.

It’s such brilliant technology, but still doesn’t really help you envisage that tiny little soft pink face any better does it? The anticipation and waiting will be SO worth it when you finally meet.

I had a couple of it’s eerie how much my son still looks like he did in the womb. He sleeps with one hand on his cheek and every scan showed him sitting like that. I love mine x
