Oh my goodness! It is so cold! Is it me or is it getting colder? Shouldn’t things be starting to warm up now? I’m sure it’s nearly summer.
To make thing worse I sometimes forget how cold outside can be. I regularly forget my gloves and I have recently lost my hat. On the days that I remember I wear gloves that reach my elbows and a hat that I bought the other day as I couldn’t bear being outside without one. Even when I am wrapped up warm I still feel cold. I think my coat isn’t thick enough. I tend to favour my black parka as it matches most of my clothes. I have thicker, warmer coats but I use them for trips to the park and walking the dog. I could do with a few warm cardigans to go under my coat. There are some lovely cardigans for women about at the moment. I love the coat cardigans but I am not sure of one of those would fit under my coat.
It must be very cold as even Bob is feeling it. This is the child who refuses warm pyjamas and kicks off her quilt. I always make sure Bob wears her hat and I always used to carry her gloves in my bag but she refused to wear them. I wondered if it was because this was the first time I had bought her finger gloves rather than mittens but I offered to buy her some mittens and she said she didn’t want any. I had been carrying her gloves around for weeks when I finally took them out of my bag and left them at home.
A couple of days later we arrived at nursery and she wouldn’t zip up her coat. I asked her a couple of times and she refused. It was freezing! When I stopped asking her she turned to me and shouted, ‘Zip up my coat!’ When I asked her for the missing word and she said, ‘Please,’ and I zipped up her coat.
Then as we got to the nursery door she asked for her gloves. Oh dear! I explained that I didn’t have them as she would never wear them and she broke down. There were so many tears and lots of noise. It was very embarrassing and I felt like the worst parent in the world!
Luckily the head teacher found her a spare pair of gloves. She offered her a choice between finger gloves or mittens and Bob chose the finger gloves. There goes my theory.
I am dreaming of summer days but I think, if I’m honest, I may have a few months to wait. Time to invest in more winter woollies!
I heard something on the radio the other day and I am going to pass it on in an attempt of appearing clever.
The reason it is still so cold is because things are still cooling down from having minimal sun during winter. It takes a while for things like sea temperature to drop, and then warm back up again and so (I am sad to say) it will stay colder for a little while longer.
The guy on the radio may have explained it better than me!
